Turner Medical Clinic closes permanently today.

As most of you are aware, Turner Medical Clinic was completely destroyed by fire on 09/28/2009. Our new temporary location is across the street from the old building. The entrance is directly across the street from Poche Medical Clinic via a sidewalk across the old hospital's helicopter pad, then follow the signs. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Today we "went live" with our new electronic medical records system (EMR). This will provide greater safety for our patients and their records, electronic prescribing, and access to records when I am away from the office, as well as many other benefits.

Today St. James Parish Hospital moves into their new
state-of-the-art facility. This facility will continue to provide
quality and compassionate medical care to our community for years to
come. Dr. Joe Turner is a member of the hospital's Board of
Governors orchestrating this amazing accomplishment for a small
rural hospital. Dr. Joe is also the medical director of the
Hospital's PILC (Performance Improvement Leadership Committee) which
aggressively strives to attain the highest level in patient care and
safety.

Turner Medical Clinic is making preparations to go to
electronic medical records. In the next few months our office will
be completely computerized. This will provide even better medical
care by more closely following patients with chronic diseases to
remind them of scheduled appointments and testing. While
responsibility of each person's health resides with the patient
themselves and not with the physician, anything we can do to remind
and encourage them will will enable better clinical outcomes. With
this new system, patients will even be able to log into their
medical record online to provide updated information for their
physician, request refills and get test results. Check back to this
page often to see when the computer system is completely
operational.

Turner Medical Clinic is the first office to connect
electronically to St. James Hospital' radiology department for
"real-time" viewing of X-rays. This means that as soon as an X-ray
on one of our patients is completed at the hospital, the pictures
are available for viewing in our office.
